New Bag-in-Box eco packaging

Toyota has officially changed the packaging of its genuine engine oil: the plastic canister is replaced by the sustainable Bag-in-Box (BIB) format. Toyota Motor Europe is the first OE manufacturer in Europe to supply engine oil in this eco packaging. The new BB format (part number 08880-80845-BB) replaces the previous plastic bottle (08880-80845). The oil itself is the same Toyota factory product - only the packaging has changed.

Purpose and specification

Toyota Genuine Motor Oil (TGMO) 5W-30 Fuel Economy is a semi-synthetic engine oil developed by Toyota Motor Europe for petrol and diesel engines that do not require a low-SAPS formulation. It delivers lubrication, wear protection and fuel economy at the level Toyota engineers specify for older engines and engines without sensitive after-treatment systems.

• SAE viscosity: 5W-30 - easy cold start down to about -30 °C, stable film at high temperatures
• ACEA: A1/B1, A5/B5 - fuel economy formulation for petrol and passenger-car diesel engines
• API: SL/CF - proven protection against wear and deposits
• Type: semi-synthetic, Fuel Economy class
• Volume: 5 litres in the new Bag-in-Box (BIB) packaging
• Shelf life: usually 5 years from production in sealed packaging stored at 5-30 °C

Suitable for

Toyota petrol and diesel engines with VVT-i and D-4D that call for ACEA A5/B5 or A1/B1, roughly up to the 2009 model year:

• Toyota Avensis T22, T25 – 1.6 / 1.8 / 2.0 VVT-i, 2.0 D-4D
• Toyota Corolla E11, E12, E15 – 1.4 / 1.6 VVT-i, 1.4 / 2.0 D-4D
• Toyota Auris E15 – 1.4 / 1.6 VVT-i, 1.4 / 2.0 D-4D
• Toyota Yaris P1, P9 – 1.0 / 1.3 VVT-i, 1.4 D-4D
• Toyota RAV4 XA20, XA30 – 2.0 / 2.4 VVT-i, 2.0 / 2.2 D-4D
• Toyota Corolla Verso AR10, Verso AR20, Camry XV30, XV40

Important: this is an FE (Fuel Economy) oil. Modern Toyota engines with a petrol particulate filter, and most hybrids and post-2009 diesels with DPF, need the PFE class instead (Premium Fuel Economy, ACEA C2, part number 08880-83389).

When to change

• Every 10 000-15 000 km or once every 12 months, whichever comes first
• Every 7 500 km or once every 6 months in severe use: short trips, cold starts, dusty roads, towing, heavy traffic
• Top up when the dipstick approaches MIN - never run the engine below that mark
• Always change the oil filter together with the oil
